Craigslist used to be a lot more chill than it is now. Scammers have taken over, especially in the dating section.
But guess what? Craigslist is full of marijuana advertisements, and some of them are legit.
I want to start this article by warning all marijuana growers and people who have marijuana to sell or share to be wary of people who put “I want 420” ads in the personals section on Craigslist.
Even in states where marijuana is legal, you often see advertisements geared towards finding marijuana on craigslist.
Some of these ads are from females who seem to be hinting you’ll get laid if you get the girl high.
If there is actually a real girl rather than a police officer behind the ad, in most cases the girl is a scammer, liar, psycho bitch, loser, fattie (BBW is what they call themselves) or other type of female you never want to meet.
If you’re a marijuana grower or marijuana seller, you can make money selling via Craiglist, but you have to be super careful, and just know up front, it’s always risky.
Many of these ads are police stings. You see an ad that says “looking for meds,” or “looking for trees” and you have no idea if it’s a legit person or a cop.
You can’t afford to make a mistake if you’re a marijuana grower or seller.
Let me emphasize again: CRAIGSLIST IS FULL OF SCAMMERS!
Hundreds of Craigslist Marijuana Ads
When you look on Craigslist Denver, Craigslist Los Angeles, Craigslist Seattle, Craigslist Portland, Craigslist Boulder, Craigslist Eugene, Craigslist Ann Arbor—or most any major Craigslist website in a state with legal recreational and/or medical marijuana.
You see hundreds of marijuana ads!
“Are you tired of getting burned with low quality marijuana and extracts? I have extra super clean organic marijuana, wax and shatter for donation,” is how one Craigslist marijuana ad reads. “All of my product will burn down to a clean white ash. All of my bud is grown with amended soil and fed only molasses and compost tea. My wax is produced with medical grade butane and it’s all vacuum purged at maximum of 120F and for at least 48 hours to ensure a clean butane free product that has a perfect honeycomb consistency, very clean and tasty. My shatter is all vacuum purged for 48 hours and held under 100F to ensure the perfect honey oil color and taste. I constantly sample my own product, and I take pride in the fact that my cannabis products totally clean.”
Sounds impressive, right? This guy seems to know what he’s talking about, and you could have a very easy time of finding marijuana on Craigslist, if the guy is legit.
In places where medical marijuana dispensaries and/or other retail marijuana sales are legal or quasi-legal, some Craigslist marijuana sellers are licensed or aboveground dispensaries with storefront locations.
They’ll state that in the Craigslist advert.
They often require state-issued marijuana cards, although in Colorado tourists can by 1/4 ounce of marijuana per day from authorized marijuana stores, with no marijuana card needed.
In places where marijuana has no legal status at all, you rarely if ever see cannabis advertisers on Craigslist and if you do, you have to wonder if it’s a cop or just somebody insane enough to advertise buds for sale in a place where that’s a felony.
Obviously when you contact Craigslist marijuana advertisers, you gotta know that you might encounter some crazy scams along with legit storefront cannabis sellers.
I’ve become an expert about finding marijuana on Craigslist because I’m in a state where I can’t legally grow and am not always willing to go storefront retail marijuana dispensaries.
I contacted a Craigslist grower who wanted me to meet him at a gas station, give him the money, and then he would come back with the ounce.
On another occasion, a cannabis seller said he’d meet me at a specific address.
I went there and nobody showed up who matched the description the seller had given me of himself.
But two guys did show up to try to carjack my Prius.
They apparently didn’t have weapons, so I aimed the car right at them. They leapt out of the way, and I drove off, frightened and wishing that I hadn’t tried finding marijuana on Craigslist.
So how easy and safe is it finding marijuana on Craigslist?
Craigslist Denver, Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles, etc.
Go to Craigslist Denver, and type the word marijuana into the site’s search engine.
You’ll get 500 pages of marijuana ads!
You find a long list of marijuana ads on Craigslist Seattle too.
And here’s the Portland, Oregon Craigslist search results for weed.
And it’s not just people selling bud, bubblehash, errl, BHO…it’s people selling marijuana seeds, clones, hydroponics gear, grow stores, grow ops, marijuana soil, marijuana books, grow warehouses, outdoor marijuana growing acreage, hydroponics nutrients, marijuana videos, marijuana containers, marijuana licenses, marijuana delivery, marijuana grow lights, marijuana containers.
You name it, Craigslist has it.
As with almost any online person-to-person transaction these days, you do well to be ultra-cautious.
It’s rare when I see a Craigslist marijuana advertisement that has some intelligence to it, a legit phone number, and especially, a marijuana delivery service that will bring the meds right to you.
I have a throwaway cell phone I use exclusively for marijuana deals, and I have an email account specifically set up to handle my Craigslist marijuana deals.
If I get good enough data via email, I’ll go for a phone call, and definitely I ask a ton of questions on the phone.
More than half the time I decide to go no further than that first phone call.
When I go out to purchase marijuana, I pack heat and know how to use it.
Whenever possible, I bring my buddy Jamal with me.
He was a college football player—a 240 pound offensive lineman.
Just having him there increases my creds and my safety.
Always meet in public places that are well-lit, in safe parts of town, and where people will be able to hear you if you need to yell for help.
Don’t front money to strangers, and if you feel like some bad shit is about to go down, get the hell out of there.
You can live to score your marijuana another day. Better than getting ripped off…or worse.
Another word to the wise: police have gone after Craigslist marijuana sellers and buyers.
I do buy weed from Craigslist sellers, and have gotten some kind buds. And I bought some shatter from a Craigslist seller who turned out to be a friend of a friend.
How am I going to reduce the cost, hassle, and risk of finding marijuana on Craigslist?
I’m going to change my situation so I grow my own marijuana, that’s how.
When I get back to growing my own cannabis again, I will bid a fond farewell to the Craigslist marijuana world.
Until then, finding marijuana on Craigslist is probably a little safer and a easier than scoring from a dealer on the street.
But it’s not for the faint of heart.
Be careful finding marijuana on Craigslist. We want you safe!
