The results are officially in from this weekend’s High Times Medical Cannabis Cup held in the Bay Area of California. Awards were given for the top three competitors in the categories of Best Indica, Best Sativa, Best Hybrid, Best Concentrates, Best Non-Solvent Hash, Best Edible, Best Booth, Best Product and Best Glass.

The Best Indica award was given to Cordero Kush Platinum, of the San Jose Patients Group. The best Sativa award was given to Premium Jack Herer, of the Playbud Delivery Service, and the best product was Mama P’s Grinder.

The event took place in the Craneway Pavilion in Richmond, a former Ford factory and now an events center, situated in a picturesque location right along the water. Inside the pavilion were tons of vendors booths marketing the tools of the industry- growing products, paraphernalia, and many new innovations, including a fantastic electronic dab set up made by the company Highly Educated.

Outside of the pavilion was the “medication area” where attendees could taste the various buds, edibles and concentrates made by the many medical marijuana providers of the Bay Area.

All week long, an expert panel of judges spent every day sampling the various buds. By Sunday night, decisions were made and High Times editors announced the winners. Hip-hop legends Busy Bee and Coke La Rock were present at the ceremony and Busy Bee gave a tribute to Bay Area weed, saying “hip hop’s true roots are about feeling good and being positive.”

During the awards ceremony, a lifetime achievement award was given to Richard Lee, founder of Oaksterdam University, and a cannabis activist for over 20 years.
