 Dank 2.0 is bud porn extraordinaire 

Most hydroponics marijuana growers have heard the term “bud porn.” It doesn’t refer to images showing cannabis buds and sexy, naked people. Instead, bud porn is juicy images of luscious marijuana buds dripping with THC.

The marijuana world has long been fortunate that a few photographers and writers document marijuana and show us the stickiest buds, plants and marijuana derivatives, such as hashish.

I well remember the first time I saw bud porn in books, rather than in High Times. The books were authored by Laurence Cherniak, an international traveller, photographer and cannathropologist whose marijuana and hashish photos set the early standard for bud porn.

Cherniak’s photos of bowling ball-sized orbs of pure Indian hashish, for example, shot on location in exotic settings, are well worth the hassle of trying to find his books today.

The bud porn tradition has continued with professional pot-ographers such as Ed Rosenthal, Robert Connell Clarke, Andre Grossman (former High Times centerfold wizard), and Jason King. Now there’s a talented new kid on the block…

We’ll talk about the Ed Rosenthal luscious Big Book of Buds four-book series in future articles, but today’s focus is on Dank 2.0, written by Big Buds contributor Subcool and published by Rosenthal’s Quick Trading marijuana book company.

Subcool is one of few marijuana breeders (along with Arjan Roskam, Ben Dronkers and Bret Bogue) willing to share his inside cannabis story with the world. Dank 2.0 is among the most “literary” and personal bud porn books I’ve ever seen, because Subcool shares his passion for marijuana breeding, photography and use.

He chronicles how his cannabis-breeding program has created a tasty menu of proprietary marijuana varieties. This provides you a rare chance to see inside the mind of a cannabis breeder so you begin to understand how to choose marijuana genetics, males and females to create your own unique cannabis strains.

Of course, the text and information in Dank 2.0 aren’t the only attractions: Subcool’s bud porn photography is front and center.

Some of his photographs are especially scintillating…my favorites include richly-colored, exquisitely detailed shots of Jack The Ripper, Blood Wreck, Space Queen and Orange Velvet.

Not only do you see crystally resin glands that characterize the best bud porn, you also marvel at deeply-hued foliage of specific Subcool varieties, many of which tend towards purples, reds, and blues.

You’re sure to enjoy Subcool’s information about the base varieties of heritage strains such as Kali Mist, Northern Lights #5 and White Widow that he uses as fundamental inputs into his new genetic creations.

One of my grower friends jokes that Dank 2.0 is an extended infomercial for Subcool’s marijuana seed company, and I can see why he said that.

On the other hand, Dank 2.0 ranks with top-quality bud porn books by Ed Rosenthal and Jason King in its ability to provide you with mouth-watering marijuana eye candy.

What makes Dank 2.0 even more special is that it tickles your eyes while introducing you to the art and science of breeding connoisseur cannabis. As husbands used to say to their wives when they got caught reading Playboy, “Of course I look at the pictures, but I read it too.”
