" I wanted to turn my love of eating marijuana onto people. "
- Steve Horowitz

Medical marijuana patients in Denver, CO have it lucky. Every day, they can go to the Ganja Gourmet restaurant and be served a variety of tasty dishes cooked creatively with medical marijuana. You must of course, be a holder of a MMJ license to be served. The street where the restaurant is located has been nicknamed “Reefer Row.”

Steve Horowitz, a quirky guy and a Howard Stern lover, is the genius behind this successful enterprise. A few years ago, he put his love of eating cannabis to good use by opening up this medical marijuana-based restaurant. “I wanted to open up a cool place where people could come and chill and have a good time. And I wanted to turn my love of eating marijuana onto people,“ he says. Since its opening, the restaurant has received an enormous amount of press, and was even featured on the Jay Leno show.

Horowitz injects his sense of humor into his menu, renaming baba ganoush, “ganga ghanoush,” tapenade, “ganjanade,” and lasagna, “laganja,” which is served with medicated garlic bread. If you really have a bad case of the munchies, you can try the Ganja Gourmet’s Dinner Buzz Special, which includes one entrée, a dessert, and an after-dinner joint for just $30.

The restaurant serves a variety of desserts as well, including “Green-ola,”
a pot infused granola bar with cranberries, chocolate chips, and walnuts, “Stoney Road Ice Cream,” a stoney blend of ice cream with marshmallows, chocolate chips & almonds, “The Ganja White Rabbit,” a fine, creamy white chocolate candy medicated with hash oil, or “Ganja Gems,” a bag of hard candies in lemon and strawberry flavors.

The Ganja Gourmet also has a "Bud Bar," where medical marijuana is sold to licensed consumers. There, particular MMJ strains are recommended to patients for aiding various ailments. Horowitz also distributes his desserts wholesale to medical marijuana dispensaries throughout Colorado. “We only buy from licensed CO growers,” says Horowitz, “so we’re keeping the money in Colorado and it’s better for the economy.”
