Over the years I’ve had many growers ask me why there are so many fertilizers and additives used for growing medical marijuana. After all, it’s just a weed, right? Why can’t I just use some all-purpose, home improvement store fertilizer? The answer is simple.
The goal of experienced growers is not to just grow medical marijuana, it is to create a finished product that surpasses anything grown before it in its quality, flavor and potency. It is the constant quest of perfection that drives the enlightened medical marijuana grower. You can grow medical marijuana with subpar potting soil and water, but until you understand the complexity of this marvelous plant, you cannot possibly understand the complexity of its nutritional needs.
Choosing The Right Marijuana Nutrient Products
There are many fertilizer companies and growers alike that continue to bash companies like Advanced Nutrients for their diverse line of products. Advanced Nutrients creates products to meet the needs of every medical marijuana grower. Just like the diversity of the genetics they grow, all medical marijuana growers have different styles, budgets, room constraints and attitudes which all affect the outcome of their medgrow. Instead of forcing the diverse population of medical marijuana growers to conform to one particular line of nutrients, Advanced Nutrients has designed multiple formulations, each to meet the needs of different growers.
Advanced Nutrients offers multiple base formulations that include their Grow-Micro-Bloom (GMB) and “budget-friendly” Jungle Juice for the 3-part fertilizer gardeners. They also have a Sensi Grow 2-part fertilizer to be accompanied by the Sensi Bloom 2-part fertilizer or the Ultra-premium 2-part Connoisseur fertilizer.
Advanced Nutrients didn’t forget about the organic growers. They offer a premium 2-part organic base fertilizer line, Iguana Juice. If outdoors is your thing, you can use Heavy Harvest dry fertilizer; available in Spring, Summer, and Fall specific blends.
Of all the base nutrients offered by Advanced Nutrients one stands alone: the pH Perfect® line. This proprietary base nutrient automatically buffers the solution’s pH, allowing maximum nutrient uptake at all times. This formula allows less experienced growers to obtain the high yielding gardens that were at one time only achieved by master growers. It also allows experienced growers to focus the time and energy otherwise dedicated to pH adjustment on improving other variables in their garden.
Are Hydroponic Amendments Worth The Cost?
Many people ask me about the abundance of fertilizer amendments offered by fertilizer companies. Do I really need all that stuff? Well, no, you don’t need any of it, but each amendment serves a specific purpose. Medical marijuana plants are so diverse in their characteristics it’s no surprise that the hydroponics industry has reflected that diversity in the fertilizer additives available.
Each plant has the same basic needs, but beyond that lies an unexplored world of possibilities that can only be discovered through experimentation. After all, one of the greatest aspects of the indoor gardening hobby is discovering new things through experimentation. Companies, like Advanced Nutrients, that are continuously supplying the hydroponic industry with new, revolutionary products (through their own experimentation) need to be revered. It is the constant evolution of our industry that drives new discoveries and will eventually perfect the cultivation of medical marijuana.
