This guy shows us the gritty side of growing and, as an indoor grower, frankly he makes me feel like a pansy.
Many of us in the indoor and outdoor gardening industry benefit from watching videos online that are made by other members of the community. The internet is a fabulous way for us to share information, and in my opinion, the true master growers are the ones who are willing to share their secrets with the rest of us in order to benefit the industry as a whole; not just keep their methods to themselves.
One such master grower is a man who calls himself Brown Dirt Warrior. BDW has created a series of web videos that truly show the process of being an outdoor grower, both the highs and the lows.
BDW's documentary shows the immense difficulties faced by people who choose to make a living growing marijuana in certain areas of the country. Realistically, BDW should not have to deal with any legal threats, as he is operating legally on private land, but because he is a public figure, he faces additional scrutiny from certain important parties.
So, not only does he do backbreaking work, he constantly faces the threat of random criminal prosecution. Yet, he does it with a laid-back attitude and a smile, and that's one of the reasons why we watch.

This guy shows us the gritty side of growing and, as an indoor grower, frankly he makes me feel like a pansy. Sure, I spend more time measuring nute levels and checking meters and making sure that my water and light cycles are correct, and... oh, who am I kidding?
This guy is hauling massive bags of ProMix like it's made of styrofoam, using his massive body-builder frame to dig holes while bug spray runs down into his eyes (all while the bugs still continue to pester him relentlessly), all for the love of the plant (and, admittedly, the money it brings. Raise your hand if you work for free; and this man works).
This first video is a great walkthrough of how to easily plant an outdoor marijuana plant, either in the ground (his preferred method, as he contends that the plants prefer the cool ground below the surface) or in an above-ground homemade planter.
It is also a testament to how much work is involved in growing marijuana. Sometimes when I try to explain to family what I do (other than write), I think that they get a vision of me sitting on a couch, smoking weed and eating Hot Pockets. I wish. I may be a pansy compared to the BDW, but I still work pretty hard.

For His Method, the BDW Uses:
- ProMix HP, which is a growing medium made of peat, perlite, limestone, and Mycorrhizae, a beneficial fungus which helps to improve flower growth (that's your buds, folks).
- Lawn and Garden Lime (to add a little acidity to your growing medium)
- Epsom Salts (Mix with water that you use to wet the growing material prior to planting)
- Advanced Nutrients' Heavy Harvest outdoor nutrients (mix in with the growing medium and you will see amazing results!)
BDW's response to criticism that he uses exclusively Advanced Nutrients' products: "Hey, I want to be on the winning team."
